Giving Thanks

Henry Ford once said, “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success”. With the unprecedented events that this year has hurtled towards us as an industry that will no doubt have an everlasting impact, I will say that the amount of good stories and news that I’ve read have kept me looking on the greener side.

This year has only reinforced my passion and support for our industry and for the member companies that continue to support and uplift the IDDBA family. We’ve witnessed the industry pull together and work together in order to stay strong for the communities we serve.

To that end, I want to extend my sincerest thank you to all of you. To the front-line retail workers who remained diligent and brave, to the delivery fleets that made sure items stayed on track. I commend you for staying strong and continuing to keep our industry and country running. We have been faced with what some may say the impossible, but by working together we prevailed and saw successes. Seeing the unwavering support and commitment is truly a miracle in itself.

IDDBA will continue to remain an industry resource and keep the community informed on the situations at hand when it comes to COVID-19’s impact. If you haven’t already, I encourage you all to check out our COVID-19 Impact industry research reports to see the shifts we’ve observed throughout this time. Also, as most of us are working remotely, and seeing that now is a time to stay connected more than ever, I would ask that you take advantage of the online IDDBA Community site to share stories, ask questions, and make industry connections. We are seeing a positive response from members all over the globe coming together on one platform.

I’ll leave you all with these final words from poet Mattie Stepanek that ring true to these times: “Unity is strength... when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.”

Hope everyone has a safe and warm holiday season as we continue to move forward and support each other as an industry.
